Educators implement effective practices in classroom management, planning, instruction, assessment, evaluation, and reporting.
Evidence #1
Classroom management strategy: Changing the classroom seating plan
As teacher I can see the importance of carefully selecting the arrangement of the seating plan. Through observations and working with the class I made a number of changes with where and with who students were sitting with. This helped with classroom management and created a better, more positive learning environment.
Evidence #2
The evidence I have for the 5th BCCT standard is a Earth's Resources unit plan that I created for a Grade 5 class. This 'matrix' is used for planning, instructing, assessment, evaluation, and reporting. Using
a matrix demonstrates that the teacher is organized and ready to teach a unit. This evidence is the planning that I did for my practicum prior to it beginning. This document provides a clear overview of both a unit and the prescribed learning outcomes which I would build my lessons on throughout my practicum.
What I learned
During the process of creating this matrix I was able to develop my understanding of the planning, assessment, instruction, and reporting process. I went through each step one at a time. This developed my knowlege of planning, assessment, instruction, managing, evaluating, and reporting. Before doing this assingment I was not aware of the detail needed in each of these steps. Educators thoughtfully consider all aspects of teaching, from planning through reporting, and understand the relationships among them. Educators employ a variety of instructional and assessment strategies. Educators have the knowledge and skills to facilitate learning for all students and know when to seek additional support for their practice.
